Slave to Sin - Day 4

"For when you were slaves to sin…" Roman 6:20

Most people living in free countries would never consider themselves slaves. Most believe that if they have the right to choose where they work, attend school, how to spend their money, and have relationships, then they are free people. The divine perspective disagrees with those sentiments. According to the Bible, all people are slaves to sin. Whether they are born in a communistic or capitalistic nation, they are all still slaves.

People that do not know and love Jesus are slaves to sin. Every act, no matter how meritorious, from God's perspective is an act of slavery. The Scriptures teach us that only deeds done to the glory of God and the good of man are considered righteous acts. So ask yourself, "Are you a slave to sin?" If you do not love Jesus, then you are, and sadly enough, you will give an account of your sinful ways one day before a Holy God. It's scary that every action, thought, and motive will be unveiled before God's throne one day, and people will be judged eternally in hell for their unrighteousness.

But wait! There is good news! You can be set free from slavery to sin and become servants of righteousness. God has made a way to pardon all of your sin and slavery and make you holy and free. All you have to do is say sorry for your sinful ways and ask God to save your soul. If you confess that Jesus took all your sin away on a cross and that he rose again from the dead, God will give you salvation. Once you believe in Jesus, you can serve God will a pure conscience. You can offer up holy acts of service in thankfulness. Will you be free today? Or do you enjoy slavery? It's your choice.
