Psalm 9:1
“I will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart.” Psalm 9:1
As Christians, we are called to be thankful - at all times and for all things! This is a shocking concept. How can we be thankful in the painful times of our lives? How can we utter a prayer of thanksgiving when the world seems to be crashing down all around us? If we are honest, we find ourselves being anything but thankful when the stresses of life come. Many times we grumble, complain and get filled with anger and animosity when things don’t turn out the way we think they should.
Beloved, thankfulness isn’t felt when we minimize our view of each problem in our lives. When we narrow our view we sometimes get tunnel vision and we can’t seem to see life outside of the obstacle in the tunnel. When this happens we get angry, fearful, and frustrated. This causes us to complain about the one obstacle that won’t seem to move out of our lives fast enough. Loved ones, we must understand that outside of the tunnel there is a whole world of blessing that is constantly flowing from our God! We can be thankful everyday for so many things. We can be thankful for life, breath, food, shelter, clothing, friends, family, salvation and so much more!
Count your blessings and stop focusing on the few things that are causing you irritation; then you will begin to “give thanks to the Lord with your whole heart.” Give Him thanks because He is good!
